私たちはシリコンバレー研修初日に自動運転車「Waymo」に乗りました。

スマホのアプリでWaymoを呼び出し、乗車した私たちは車内にタブレットが用意されていることに驚きました。

そのタブレットではWaymoが通ろうとしている道や、Waymoが認識する周囲の車や人などが映し出されていました。

街中ではすでに何台ものWaymoが走っており、シリコンバレーという街が世界の技術の最先端にいることを実感しました。

Waymoに対して、自動運転技術に対する感動があった反面、私たち人類の仕事が奪われてしまうことへの怖さも感じました。

SNSなどではよく目にしていた情報ですが実際に体感すると遠い未来だと想像していたことが間近に迫ってきていると思い、

人間にしかできないこと、自分にしかできないことを考えていきたいと思いました。

We rode in the self‑driving car Waymo on the first day of our Silicon Valley trip. 

We called the car with a smartphone app, and I was surprised that tablets were in the car. The tablet showed the road Waymo was going to take and the cars and people around us that Waymo recognized. 

In the city, many Waymo cars were already driving, and I felt that Silicon Valley is really at the front line of world technology. 

I was impressed by the self‑driving technology, but at the same time, I felt a little scared that human jobs might be taken away. I had seen this kind of information on SNS, but experiencing it myself made me realize that the future I thought was far away is actually very close. It made me want to think about what only humans can do, and what only I can do.
